About
The Swing Trading Coaching I wish i had
My mission is to bring elite, prop firm–level coaching and guidance to developing swing traders around the world.
No hype. No flashy screenshots. No overnight success stories.
Just honest, data-driven support for swing traders trying to make it work.
My story - How it started
Before I share my story, let me make something clear:
I’m not a crazy outlier who turned a few thousand into millions. I’m just a regular guy—like 99.999% of traders—who went through a typical trading journey and learned a thing or two in the process.
Hi, I’m Daniel — the face behind Steps Trading. I’m a 35-year-old husband, father of two, and someone who’s recently walked the full path of the struggling, developing trader.
I’ve lived through the doubt, the setbacks, the urge to quit… and eventually found my way through to consistent, sustainable results.
In 2018, my uncle handed me a copy of How to Make Money in Stocks by William O’Neil. Something clicked and I was intrigued.
At the time, I was just a curious guy with zero market knowledge, working a regular corporate job. I had always enjoyed numbers, logic puzzles, and poker — and suddenly the stock market felt like the ultimate puzzle.
That curiosity gradually grew into a bit of an obsession. During Covid, I was consuming a lot of trading content and exploring different things, from value investing to Tastytrade-style option selling. Still a hobby — just a very intense one.
After realising that leverage is not a secret bullet and that option selling had limited potential, I turned my focus to swing trading equities. I must have poured thousands of hours into studying, testing and refining my swing trading approach. CANSLIM, Minervini, Stockbee and Qullamagie were all useful influences and helped shape my evolution to some degree.
"That curiosity grew into a bit of an obsession."
"not because of the system, but because of me. I was the problem."
"I'm still not sure if it was grit or sunk cost fallacy that kept me going - maybe both"
The turning Point
Then came the curveball: I was unexpectedly made redundant. With a family to support and no clear next step, I faced a choice—uproot my family to chase a new job elsewhere, or find a way to make it work where we were. That’s when I first started to see trading as more than just a way to manage a retirement account. It could be a real source of income.
I was nowhere near ready to go full-time — and I’m glad I didn’t try. Thankfully, I landed a part-time job as an algorithmic trading assistant for a futures market maker—a friend of a friend. Later, I picked up another flexible role that didn’t conflict with market hours. That gave me the time and mental space to go all-in on learning to trade properly.
I started treating trading like a business. I narrowed my focus to a few core setups, journaled every trade and tracked my metrics religiously. After 6–9 months of following this new routine, I finally had proof: this wasn’t just luck. I was identifying the right trades. The setups worked. But most of the profits were slipping through my fingers—not because of the system, but because of me.
I was the problem. That realisation changed everything.
The real issue was trade management. I was using too much discretion — adjusting exits on the fly and second-guessing myself. But once I looked at the numbers, it was clear: any basic rules-based management beat my discretionary decisions.
So I focused on fixing that. After a few iterations, I found a ruleset that struck the right balance — effective, and something I could actually stick to. At last, I had a swing trading system that truly fit me, worked well and was scalable.
During that time, the emotional swings were brutal. Some days I felt unstoppable. Other days, I questioned everything and wanted to quit. I’m still not sure if it was grit or sunk cost fallacy that kept me going — maybe both. But I kept going.
The Coaching I wish I had
Now that I’ve built years of real experience, it feels wrong not to use it to help others.
Before trading, one of the most fulfilling parts of my job was coaching people on how to use data and research to make smart, informed decisions. That’s still what drives me — only now, I bring that same mindset and structure to help traders like you.
I created this coaching service because it’s exactly what I wished existed when I was starting out.
Over the years, I tried multiple trading communities and services. What I found was often disappointing:
- They were more focused on pushing their system than supporting my growth as a trader.
- Many of the best traders weren’t great teachers. And the few who were, didn’t have the time (or incentive) to give personal guidance.
- Even in well-meaning communities, once you stray from the playbook, the support dries up and you’re on your own.
And yet, traders are not all the same. Styles, personalities, strengths — they all vary. That’s why copying someone else’s system can only take you so far.
I agree: for beginners, following a proven system is often the best first step. But what nobody tells you is this: it’s almost impossible to replicate what an experienced discretionary trader does — because their discretion comes from conviction and intuition built over years. You can’t copy that. You have to build it yourself.
That’s where I come in.
I don’t claim to have all the answers. But if you’re trying to make swing trading work — whatever your style or system — I can help you get better, faster. I’ll help you improve what’s working, rethink what’s not, and keep pushing forward. And if I think you’re on a dead-end path, I’ll be honest about that too.
"They were more focused on pushing their system than supporting my growth as a trader."
"You can't copy that. You have to build it yourself."
bottom line
My coaching isn’t about molding you into me. It’s about helping you become the best version of your trading self.
I’ve been where you are — and I know how much faster, clearer, and more rewarding this journey can be with the right support.
Let’s find your edge and sharpen it — together.
